Resource Guarding

Resource Guarding is the possession and guarding of items your dog deems as high value. This could be people, food bowls, toys, chews, balls and in some instances even the space around them.

How we deal with it when it happens can have a huge impact as to how quickly we can resolve the issue.

It can be a devastating behaviour to witness and it can be really stressful. We have owned dogs who guard items and have first hand experience of changing their behaviour.

Whatever they guard, we can help resolve the issue. We offer practical and realistic training programmes to give you the support and help you need whilst teaching your dog new skills or undergoing any behaviour modification change.

We do not offer “quick fixes”, what we do offer is the information to help you understand ‘Why’ your dog is doing what he is doing and ‘How’ to address the issue to improve the lives of you, your dog and those around you.

With all of our behaviour work, we aim to get to the root cause of the problem and don’t just treat the symptoms.

Every dog is different and is treated as an individual, our tailored packages offer the best value and continued support for you and your dog.

Whatever the issue, we come with experience and qualifications to ensure we make a difference to you and your dog.

Our first resource guarding session is 2 hours long and involves an indepth assessment then we look at putting together a programme to resolve the issue.

We may then recommend 1 hour sessions as a top up to check your progress and make sure you are getting results.

Super Hounds Client Review

I stumbled upon Diane’s business on FB. My 4 year old dog had acquired some behavioural issues which two other dog behaviourists failed to address.

I’m so pleased I trusted my instincts by not giving up on my baby. Diane helped in such a big way that we are eternally grateful.

She has brought our Bruno back to us! Bruno has become more sociable with us and our guests, happier and he’s even begun to play with other dogs he sees on walks, something he has not done in the two years since we put him in doggy daycare 🙁

He still has issues and I don’t expect miracles. It’s a working progress but we are now armed with the knowledge to manage the situation.

Many many thanks to Diane and Superhounds!”
